About CleanMyPhoto: Mission, Ethics, and Architecture

Our mission: Simple, accessible digital privacy

CleanMyPhoto was founded on a simple conviction: protecting your personal privacy when sharing photos and videos should be free, fast, and completely private.

Modern smartphones are astonishing technical achievements, but they quietly embed precise geographic coordinates, camera serial numbers, and timestamps into every media file. For millions of people selling items online, participating in community forums, or sharing photos with friends, this hidden data creates an invisible trail of personal information.

CleanMyPhoto provides an accessible, browser-based utility that allows anyone, regardless of technical background, to see what their photos reveal and clean them before sharing.

Why zero-upload architecture matters

Many online file utilities require you to upload your sensitive personal photos to their remote servers. Once your files reach an external server, you lose control over how they are stored, who has access to them, and whether they are retained in backup archives.

CleanMyPhoto rejected this model from day one. We built our tool entirely on client-side web technologies. Your photos and videos are analyzed and cleaned in your browser memory. They are never uploaded to our servers, third-party cloud buckets, or external APIs.

Editorial standards and independence

Our educational guides, platform comparisons, and privacy checklists are written by independent software engineers and privacy researchers. We base our recommendations on empirical testing and open standards.

We do not publish sponsored reviews or fabricated platform test statistics. When an application or social network handles metadata well, we say so; when it preserves sensitive coordinates, we alert our readers with actionable steps to stay safe.
