Remove Metadata From a Video
Last reviewed: September 1, 2026
Clean supported video container metadata locally
CleanMyPhoto inspects recognised QuickTime / ISO Base Media File Format metadata in MP4-family files. For supported MP4, MOV, M4V and 3GP containers, the cleaner overwrites recognised metadata boxes while leaving encoded audio and video data in place.
The tool does not transcode the media stream in this workflow. It does not promise removal of every possible atom or proprietary structure, so re-scan the saved copy.
What video metadata can reveal
A video container can include creation or modification times, device or software names, location values, dimensions, codecs and descriptive tags. Codecs and stream data are technical parts of a file, not automatically personal data.
Format limits
The scanner can show basic information from a range of video files, but container cleaning is limited to supported MP4-family containers. WebM and MKV files are not offered as cleanable container formats.
