Why you should remove photo metadata before sharing
Every picture captured by a modern smartphone or digital camera contains more than just visual pixels. Hidden deep inside the file header is a wealth of auxiliary data known as metadata. This metadata can include the exact geographical coordinates where the picture was taken, the date and second of exposure, camera hardware serial numbers, device model details, and the software used to edit the image.
When you upload an original photo to public forums, classified marketplaces, blogs, or send it via email, anyone who downloads the file can extract these embedded tags in seconds. Removing photo metadata before sharing is one of the most effective personal privacy habits you can establish.

What photo metadata contains
Metadata in digital photography is categorized into several standardized formats that have evolved over decades of digital imaging technology.
